Yield stress and dynamic viscosity for these blended oils were determined. The rheological behaviors of base mineral oil with and without modifier were investigated at different temperatures using Programmable Rheometer LADV-III Ultra-System. Physicochemical properties mineral base oil and blended oil were carried out. Different weight percent from this modifier was added to base mineral oil and assessed. In this research, evaluation and optimization of poly-aromatic cationic surfactant as modifier for base mineral oil. It was found that the efficiency of the prepared compound as viscosity index improvers increases with increasing the concentration of additives. The efficiencies of the prepared compounds as viscosity index improvers were investigated. 70% octadecyl methacrylate units showed a 15C ᵒ reduction in their pour points, thus establishing the large efficiency of the products synthesized in this work. The pour points of most base oils containing each polymer decreased compared to that of the pure base oil. The obtained results showed the efficacy of the additives as viscosity index improvers, pour point depressants. All products were characterized by FTIR, 1 H-NMR and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The free radical polymerization was carried out at 70 ☌ in toluene solvent and 2, 2′-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as initiator. In this study, homopolymer of Octadecyl methacrylate and Octadecyl methacrylate_co_methylmethacrylate with molar ratios of 30:70, 50:50 and 70:30 were synthesized and characterized. ![]() Methacrylate polymers are widely used as additives in lubricating oils, as pour point depressants and viscosity index improvers. It has been found that the occurrence of maximum VI depends on the lube oil used and the type and concentration of viscosity index improver. ![]() VI of blended oils, made from the lube oils (Servoneum 100, Servopress 68, Servomesh SP 220, and Servocut 335) by the addition of MMA, PBR, and Polyisoprene-cis, has shown the potential to reach the maximum value. The enhancement of VI of lube oils (Servoneum 100, Servopress 68, Servomesh SP 220, and Servocut 335) by the addition of viscosity index improvers (Methylmethacrylate (MMA), Polybutadiene rubber (PBR), and Polyisoprene-cis) has been studied. ![]() Viscosity Index improvers are added in the lube oils to reach the desired Viscosity Index (VI). Examples are power steering fluid, aircraft piston engine oils, modern internal-combustion engines, turbine engine oils (stationary and aircraft), and industrial gear oils. Viscosity Index (VI) improver has found its largest commercial applications as additives to engine oils. Engine oils are widely used for lubrication purposes in automobile and related industries.
